About
I am Hana Ito. I write software for a small archive during the week and essays here about once a month, usually on a Sunday morning before anyone else in the flat is awake.1
1 The flat has a cat. The cat is always awake.
The essays are about tools: the ones that last, the ones that quietly stop opening your files, and the habits we build around both. Most of them start as a page in a paper notebook and end up as a plain text file. Nothing here is sponsored, and nothing is written to be found by a search engine first and read by a person second.
If you are new, start with Why I still carry a paper notebook. It is the one I would hand someone on a train.
You can follow along by RSS. There is no newsletter, no comment section, and no tracking beyond a count of page views. If something I wrote was useful or wrong, write to me at hana@example.com. I answer most letters within a week.2
2 The ones I don’t answer are usually the ones I am still thinking about.
